Overview of Incontinence
WHAT IS URINARY INCONTINENCE?
Many people experience involuntary leakage of urine. When it happens enough that it becomes a problem, it is called urinary incontinence.
Contrary to popular belief, urinary incontinence is not a normal part of aging; nor is it something that women should naturally expect after childbearing or menopause. Urinary incontinence is generally caused by a physical problem or medical condition.
There are five common types of urinary incontinence. Please select below to continue.
WHAT IS FAECAL INCONTINENCE?
Faecal incontinence is the loss of control over the passage of stool/faeces. This is not an uncommon problem in the community and hospital settings.
Faecal incontinence can result from many causes. These include diarrhoea, anal sphincter dysfunction, poor rectal compliance, neurological impairment, muscle damage (e.g. childbirth) and anatomical problems such as haemorrhoids, tumours and fistulae.
Hollister faecal incontinence management solutions are aimed toward skin care as well as a specialised collection device for bed bound patients.
