Karaya 5 is a natural skin barrier that is particularly well suited for sensitive skin. It has a mildly acidic pH (4.5 - 5.0) that helps maintain the skin's natural protection against bacterial growth and irritation. |

| Karaya 5 is based on Karaya gum, a natural product derived from the stericulia urens tree that grows primarily in central and northern India. |

| Karaya is a safe, natural product that is used as an additive in a number of foods, ice cream, puddings and laxatives. |

| Some of the special properties of Karaya help protect skin. |

- Protects skin against caustic action of digestive enzymes
- Inhibits bacterial growth and attendant infections and abrasions

| The "buffering action" of karaya protects skin against the caustic effects of digestive enzymes. |

- Maintains pH of 4.5 in the presence of acid or base substances
- Neutralises digestive enzymes (pancreatic & bile) found in stoma output
- Maintains skin's natural defence, ie. 'acid mantle' against micro-organisms
