Female Urinary System
In females, the urethra is about 1 – 1.5 inch (3 - 5 cm) long. It is situated behind the pubic bone, curving gently to right in front of the vaginal opening. The female urethra can be very susceptible to infection given its close proximity to the vagina and anus where bacteria are present.
