| For example, Medicare changed its coverage policy for intermittent catheters in 2008. The policy now allows a sterile intermittent catheter for each episode of prescribed catheterization up to a maximum of 200 catheters per month. Prior to this change, the policy allowed only one catheter per week unless certain criteria were met. |
