News for Intermittent Catheter Users
There has been a recent change in the Medicare reimbursement policy which applies to the use of intermittent catheters. This policy change was put into effect April 1, 2008 by the four U.S. regional Durable Medical Equipment Medicare Administrative Contractors.

This new change in reimbursement coverage allows intermittent catheter users to be reimbursed for a maximum of 200 catheters per month rather than one per week. This new policy is subject to the normal standards of medical reasonableness and necessity. Hollister underscores the importance of this positive move, which should enable Medicare beneficiaries to no longer reuse catheters.

Hollister has long been an advocate for this improvement, and is delighted to see a change that will favorably impact the lives of those who use intermittent catheters.
