Saturday, October 3rd, 2020 marks the 10th anniversary of Ostomy Awareness Day. In partnership with United Ostomy Associations of America (UOAA), Hollister Incorporated is proud to stand with the entire ostomy community in celebration. Every ostomate has a voice worth hearing and we aim to embody ostomy confidence through the #OstomateVoices of our worldwide community.

To commemorate the 10th anniversary and show our support, Hollister will be featuring 10 ostomy advocates or influencers in the ostomy community on its social media platforms, asking each of them to share their story. One advocate will be featured each day for 10 days leading up to Ostomy Awareness Day, encouraging others to share their voices too. Follow along and watch on the Hollister Instagram and Facebook pages.

We invite everyone to join together to raise ostomy awareness and engage in activities that show support for people living with ostomies and their caregivers.
Following are fun and simple ways to help build confidence and connection within the ostomy community!

  1. Join Us for a Virtual Cooking Class
Join us for a virtual cooking class on October 3rd with private chefs Ryan Van Voorhis and Seth Bradley of Nude Dude Food™, one of Chicago’s most sought after private dining and catering services. Ryan received his permanent ostomy after battling Crohn’s disease for several years. He learned early on how much his diet impacted his digestive health and made a commitment to eating well ever since. Register today to connect with others in the community and cook a delicious meal.

  2. Spread Positivity and Share Your Voice
We’re connecting and empowering our worldwide ostomy community to share their own unique experiences—their challenges, their achievements and the joys of their daily lives. Share words of encouragement that have helped you along your ostomy journey. Using your words, we’ll create a unique social card that you can share with your friends, family, and community. Share your voice here!

  3. Show Off Your Stoma Sticker
Stoma stickers are a great way to raise awareness, start a conversation, or show support. Order your free Stoma Stickers in time for Ostomy Awareness Day, shipped anywhere in the US.

Share a photo or video of your Stoma Sticker on social media using #StomaSticker to be part of the conversation or personalize your next Instagram or Facebook Stories with the Hollister Ostomate Voices digital stickers. It’s easy – find them in the GIF library when creating a Story and don’t forget to tag us!

  4. Run for Resilience Ostomy 5K Events – Now Virtual
Hollister is proud to celebrate the 10th Anniversary of Ostomy Awareness Day by supporting the United Ostomy Associations of America (UOAA) as the exclusive Diamond Sponsor of its Run for Resilience Ostomy 5K event series. These events will be held virtually across the country to help increase awareness about ostomy and continent diversion surgery and encourage positive dialogue. Register here to walk, run, or roll (or even treadmill) in the virtual 5K.

“Hollister is honored to be the exclusive Diamond Sponsor of UOAA Run for Resilience Ostomy 5K events. We stand with the ostomy community on Ostomy Awareness Day, and every day,” said Abinash Nayak, Vice President of Americas. “This is a strong example of how we exemplify Our Mission to make life more rewarding and dignified for people who use our products and services.”
