On May 21st through May 24th, Hollister Incorporated will join more than 400 exhibitors and 6,000 influential critical care nurses for the National Teaching Institute & Critical Care Exposition (NTI) in Boston, MA. Hosted by the American Association of Critical-Care Nurses (AACN), this is the largest and most comprehensive trade show for high acuity and critical care nurses.

This year, Hollister Incorporated will introduce education sessions on the prevention of medical device related pressure injuries, an increasing risk to critically ill patients. Presented by esteemed nurse specialist Laurie McNichol, MSN, RN, CNS, GNP, CWOCN, CWON-AP, FAAN, the sessions will identify patients who may be at risk, classify types of pressure injuries, and offer key prevention strategies.

“The data illustrate that ‘traditional’ pressure injuries are on the decline, but those related to medical devices are on the rise,” stated McNichol. “Decreasing these risks is a top priority for U.S. hospitals and of course, low incidence of these injuries is considered to be an indicator of quality care.”

“Nurses are accountable members of an interprofessional team,” said Mary Wasner, Clinical Education Manager, US Continence & Critical Care for Hollister Incorporated. “They have a unique responsibility in the prevention of pressure injury development in the ICU.”
